CLCGA Play Off Finals @ Merlin GC

CLCGA League Play Offs
Sunday 14th October 2018 Merlin Golf Club.
After two days of Cornwall embracing ‘Storm Callum’ heavy overnight rain many players (& organisers!) were filled with dread!
However a delayed start meant all teams could arrive safely.
The altered format involved players going out in 3’s in team order. A non qualifying stableford - off full handicap.
County Captain Sue Roworth, Vice Captain Vicki Stevenson and County Secretary Jenny Potter welcomed the three teams to Merlin.
They were congratulated on being the League Winners and there was a lovely expectant atmosphere for what lay ahead.
Considering the volume of rain over the last few days, the Course was amazingly dry and looked in very good condition.
The three county officials watched some very good golf and what was evident, was the ‘Great Spirit’ and camaraderie amongst the players.
The format meant that an aggregate score from all players would result in the best overall total becoming the Winners of the ‘League Play Offs’.
County Captain Sue Roworth thanked Merlin for hosting the day, for being so welcoming and providing a Course in very good condition.
Thanked Jenny for her hard work behind the scenes in notifying captains, of the change in format & liaising with Merlin. She also thanked Vicki for her support and presence during the day.
After presenting the trophy (donated by Killiow Golf Club) to Perranporth’s new Lady Captain Debbie Douglas, the teams enjoyed a superb Carvery followed by a delicious pudding and coffee.
Final Scores
1st -Perranporth –211
2nd- West Cornwall -195
3rd- Launceston - 188
